Reveal Findings

CR – Absent central 3 metacarpal and phalangeal bones with flexed radial and ulnar rays; the radius, ulna and carpal ossifications are normal.

Reveal Discussion

Ectrodactyly represents central hypoplasia of the hand and may also be referred to as split hand, lobster claw and oligodactyly. Ectrodacyly reflects longitudinal terminal deficiency of the rays; the carpals are usually unaffected. Associated anomalies include cleft lip and palate, mandibulofacial dysostosis, deafness, congenital cataracts, lower limb deformities, cyclopia, congenital heart disease, and imperforate anus.
