Reveal Clinical Notes

MR 2 months later showed near complete resolution of the extraaxial collection.

Reveal Findings

MR – Mixed signal extra-axial collection with minimal peripheral enhancement and compression of the thecal sac.

NM – Coronal SPECT shows bilateral pars defects (also seen on MR).

Reveal Discussion

Spinal epidural hematoma may be the result of coagulopathy, trauma, vascular lesion, iatrogenic process or spontaneous event. In this case, disruption of the lumbar venous plexus may have occurred from either vertebral motion or acute trauma associated with spondylolysis.
