Reveal Findings

CR – Cross-table lateral radiograph demonstrates lucent defect in the pars interarticularis of C2 with sclerotic margins and normal alignment.

Reveal Discussion

Congenital spondylolysis of the cervical spine is very rare. The embryologic basis is related to lack of development of the pars interarticularis chondrification center. This results in enlargement of the neural foramen and dysplastia of the artricular pillar, lamina and transverse process.
