Reveal Findings

UGI – elongated pyloric channel with tram track, pyloric muscle indentation upon the antrum of the stomach, subtle polypoid filling defect at antro-pyloric junction.

US – asymmetrically thickened pyloric muscle with polypoid lesion emanating into the prepyloric antrum.

Reveal Discussion

Pyloric mucosal hyperplasia is a known component of hypertrophic pyloric stenosis and may be related to hypergastrinemia or prostaglandins. Hyperplastic mucosal polyps may be related to prolonged gastric outlet obstruction, enteric hormone effect and/or peptic effect.

Reveal Diagnosis

Hyperplastic antral polyp and pyloric stenosis.
