Diagnosis

Venous Malformation

Clinical Notes

CT of the brain demonstrated minimally depressed right temporo-parietal fracture and extra-axial hemorrhage. MR of the cervical spine was performed to evaluate for injury. Biopsy performed to exclude neurogenic/sympathetic tumor.

Findings

MR – Mixed T1 and hyperintense T2 and post-gadolinium left paraspinal/intraspinal lesion in the upper thoracic region.

Discussion

Paraspinal hemangiomas comprise less than 1% of all posterior mediastinal masses. Neurogenic and sympathetic chain neoplasms are the primary considerations.
