Proximal Tibial “Toddler” Fracture

CR – Buckled anterior cortex of the proximal tibia.

The classic tibial toddler’s fracture is a nondisplaced spiral fracture of the mid-diaphysis that is initially occult. Other common sites for toddler injuries include the proximal tibia, distal tibia, fibula, tarsals and metatarsals.

The anterior proximal tibial buckle fracture is a relatively common injury in children < 4 years of age and is related to hyperextension and compression.
